Chapter 7
Plans are cooking
CHAPTER 7 âOh man! What are we gonna do now? Weâve run out of time!â Claymoreâs questioning depicted exactly how worried he was. The beavers were supposed to see Choke D Chicken to report what they saw before the siren blew but obviously they were not able to work as fast as they were supposed to. They had to figure out a way out of the situation as soon as possible. CLAYMORE: Oh, my God! Weâre definitely not gonna make it out of here without getting caught! KEITH: Are you always gonna keep acting like this, Clay? Yeah, we ran out of time so what!? All that matters now is that we think fast and make the right decision here and now! (Claymore sighed and looked away in embarrassment) EDWIN: Okay, rightâŚso we know that the Golden sock and some blue goofballs are here but from the aesthetics and maintenance of this place we know for sure that weâre not the only ones that know that such prized possessions are here. This leaves us with two options; we take them now or we leave and come back for them later. KEITH: I guess weâd have to leave them here for now because the officers are out there making sure that every prisoner is in his cell. We obviously cannot go back with all of this treasure. Theyâll catch us and Skye will have us terminated without hesitation. CLAYMORE: But if we are gonna leave them here weâd have to come back sooner than later before someone else finds out or before the resident here decides to change the location of the Golden sock. KEITH: Sure, sure. Most definitely. Now letâs get going. Make sure everything looks like how we came to meet it. We donât want the resident to realize that we were here. The beavers made sure to keep the room exactly how they came to meet it. They put the goofballs and the Golden sock back in place and prepared to leave. Edwin readied his wrist to enable the âChoke D Chickenâ disguise but was stopped by Keith immediately. Keith explained, âThat wouldnât be such a great idea, Edwin. By now most of the prisoners and the officers have noticed Choke D Chicken is in his cell. Putting on the disguise will only set us up for trouble. âOh yeah, didnât think of that. Thanksâ replied Edwin. They phased out of the room with the glassy key and successfully made their way to their cells without getting suspected by any of the officers. When Choke D Chicken realized that the beavers were not able to return before the siren, he sighed in disappointment but he didnât exude any sign of anger nor worry. The next couple of days were difficult for some prisoners. They failed to apply to some of the new rules as they had grown tired of them all too soon. Skye ordered the officers to have them terminated and they did just that. As furious as ever, Spank the Monkey had made his decision to have his wristband and that of the rest of his gang lumi-limed so they moved on to the next phase of his plans in the penitentiary, given all that was happening in recent times. He was confident that Choke knew the location of the Golden sock and was ready to intercept Chokeâs every step to retrieve it. Over the next subsequent canteen breaks Spank divulged the shift of plans to Pen, Finn, Clyde and Joel. He explained to them how systematic and tactical the execution of the plan was going to be, how theyâd be taking all recently acquired goofballs to his keeper as well as how theyâd get their wristbands lumi-limed in the process. Spank the Monkey and his gang were absolutely ready to carry on their plans in the second week after the previous sports break as it was the only period they were going to get to take final action once and for all. After one dining session the beavers smuggled Chokeâs food to him in his cell. This happened to be the first time they met up close with their boss after their visit to the bathroom. âUmmâŚboss, here you go. Heheâ Edward put on a fake smile that was awkward enough to make Claymore and Keith feel like idiots. âHow come it turned out like that?â Choke D Chicken asked with a surprisingly calm tone. Keith, as nervous as he was, cleared his throat to speak, âThere were a few hitches; when we got in thereâŚthere were no lights, the tiles were so many and identical andâŚâ âEnough.â Choke commanded. âSo what did you find in there?â âWe found a few more goofballs, blue ones to be precise. And yes, you were right again boss. The legendary Golden sock was there! We saw it with our own eyesâŚitâs real!â answered Edwin with excitement. Choke D Chicken smiled modestly. Keith was quite startled at Chokeâs behavior. He was expecting him to have threatened them or lashed out on them by now since they failed to complete their mission on time as instructed and also failed to come out with the treasure they found in the bathroom. Choke could tell that Keith wasnât calm like the others so he threw his next question directly at him. âWere you thinking of bringing out the Golden sock to me?â Choke asked. âY-Y-Y-Yes, boss. We were s-s-s-supposed to but, butâŚâ Keith began to splutter. âThatâs fine, Keith.â Choke interrupted. âIt was actually a good decisionâŚnot bringing them along. The perfect time will be during the next sports break. Now while we wait for the next sports break session youâll be taking all my goofballs to the dark market via your burrows. I believe you know who to take them to? I want them all out of here before something goes wrong, understood?â âGot you, boss!â they replied. âOh and if you are wondering why Iâm being calm with youâŚitâs only because our goal is only an armâs length away and this means I might get the opportunity to see my daughter once again. â Keith was caught by surprise once again upon hearing Choke. He had never seen or heard him like this before. All the way back to his cell, Keith thought about how his boss could be a really loving father despite his character. âYou think you know a guyâ said Keith after a deep sigh of relief.
